The internal audit department is responsible for ensuring that purchasing, sales, and invoicing processes operate without any inconsistencies. Their goal is to identify and resolve any issues before external auditors conduct their review.
To find all these inconsistencies, they needed to stop working manually with Excel and automate the entire process.
Their main pain points were:
- Difficulty during data cleaning and preparation. Selecting specific datasets, removing special characters, and filtering are tedious processes.
- Cumbersome manual work, as report construction is complex, with widespread use of non-cutting-edge and limited tools like Excel.
- Percentage of human errors in analysis.
- Repetition of a large portion of tasks, period after period.
- Difficulty in conducting an analysis of the entire population, which forced them to perform audits on small non-representative samples.
We offered them different solutions to automate their internal audit processes, and as soon as we found one that fit their needs, we dived headfirst into the challenge and took the first step towards forging a time-tested relationship.
How we navigate it
We began by deeply analysing their current processes, systems, data sources, and infrastructure.
We then designed a roadmap and started working to automate the end-to-end workflow. This process consisted of:

- Loading data into a Cloud data lake.
- Automating control checks and analysis.
- Building dashboards to view the reports.
